Updated: Nov 27, 2019
Simple step by step guide on how to cut cost of IKEA kitchen project and get up to 20% in savings. In most cases, savings will be $1,000 and up. So, if you are interested in, fasten your seat belt and let’s go!
The total cost of the IKEA Kitchen project can be divided into 4 main categories and on each of them, you can save 5%–20%.
1. Save on Planning and Design
Design cost is usually 5% of the entire kitchen cost, however, this is one of the most important stages in Kitchen renovation process, and mistakes made at the design stage will lead to big troubles during installation, and as a result, you would end up with unexpected additional expenses.
So we do not recommend to try to save on this part of your kitchen project, because a little mistake in design can cost you hundreds of dollars during the installation process.
Our team has a professional IKEA kitchen designer who has been working with IKEA products for many years and has great experience in designing kitchens of all sizes, including massive 60+ cabinets kitchens and small 5 cabinets kitchenettes. We know exactly what every kitchen should and should not have, and which elements can significantly affect kitchen cost. So we always try to do our best to provide the best result within the client's needs and a budget.
We always recommend hiring a professional to do the kitchen design and layout so you will avoid unexpected charges, which sometime could be up to third of the installation cost!
A good amount, right?
2. Buying a kitchen
Cabinets, Countertops, Facades, Filling and Accessories. At this stage, you can save as much as 20%! Just plan to buy a kitchen for early spring, or late autumn, when the IKEA Kitchen Event takes place.
This year, the event lasts 5 weeks and started on March 4th. Under the terms of the promotion, customers are eligible to save up to 20% on buying kitchen related products.
This is the most effective way to save money if you do not buy a used kitchen on a garage sale. Sometimes this is also an option.
You can install the entire kitchen yourself, using the instructions on the Internet and the IKEA guides. If you have experience in furniture installation and have all the necessary tools, then you can save up to 30% of the total Kitchen cost, but not a time.
If you do not have experience or necessary tools, we cannot recommend you to try to save on installation. Since due to lack of experience, the installation itself may be delayed or turn out to be done incorrectly, which may affect both the reliability and product warranty. On top of that, it is quite often that the cost of reducing wrongly installed kitchen can be more than the original installation from scratch.
Easy Afford has a number of highly experienced kitchen installers. Who always install kitchens square and level to meet the highest standards of customers’ expectations.
4. Plumbing and Appliances installation
It is difficult to save on this stage because plumbing and electrical works have to be carried out by licensed specialists. Therefore, to avoid any property damage or even worse personal injuries leave this part of work to the licensed specialists.
We are ready to recommend proven experts who will give you a 5% discounton their services if you make an appointment prior April 30.
If you have a small simple kitchen that you install yourself. Considering sales on IKEA Kitchen Event, the savings can be around 600 CAD - this is about half the cost of the quartz countertop.
